Tokyo Girls' Style (東京女子流)Tokyo Girls’ Style (東京女子流, Tōkyō Joshi Ryū) is a Japanese idol group formed in February 2010 by Avex.

It consists of 5 members : Yamabe Miyu, Konishi Ayano, Arai Hitomi, Nakae Yuri, and Shoji Mei.

The leader is Yamabe Miyu.

Biography / History

Avex announced the creation of a new girls band in late 2009. The identity of the members was revealed in January 2010.

Tokyo Girls’ Style held their 1st live performance in February 2010 at Shibuya O-Nest.

They debut single Kirari☆ (キラリ☆) was released in May 2010.

In August 2010, Tokyo Girls’ Style started broadcasting several episods of their show TGS UST.TV on Ustream.

In October 2010, the members performed as backup dancer during the live events of DJ Hello Kitty.

Their fan club Astalight (アスタライト) was created in January 2011.

In June 2011, the idol unit gave live performances in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

In 2012, Tokyo Girls’ Style members hosted a segment in the TV show Japan in Motion broadcast on Nolife in France.

In February 2012, Konishi Ayano broke her right foot and had to suspend her activities for a few weeks.

In April 2012, the idol group appeared in a nationwide traffic safety campaign.

Tokyo Girls' StyleTokyo Girls’ Style held their 1st live at Nippon Budokan in December 2012. The age of the members was unveiled during this event.

Their program Tokyo Girls’ Style no Sure Sure TV (東京女子流のスレスレTV) started in January 2013 on BS Fuji (BSフジ).

Tokyo Girls' StyleIn March 2013, they participated in J Series Festival in Thailand.

In January 2014, the idol unit and the internet label Maltine Records launched a collaboration project titled Maltine Girls Wave (マルチネガールズウェーブ). Each member made a different CD with other artists.

Tokyo Girls' Style (東京女子流)In the same month, they participated in Kawaii Pop Fes by @Jam in Taiwan along with other idol groups.

They gave concerts with Up Up Girls (Kari) in Spring 2014.

Tokyo Girls Style were starring in the movie Count 5 to Dream of You (5つ数えれば君の夢) released in March 2014.

Tokyo Girls' Style - Gakko no KaidanThe members also played the leading roles in the horror movie Gakko no Kaidan -Noroi no Kotodama- (学校の怪談 -呪いの言霊-) released in May 2014. They performed the original soundtrack on their 16th single Jujika (十字架).

They participated in Kawaii Pop Fes in Hong Kong in June 2014 along with other idol groups.

Tokyo Girls' Style (東京女子流)Tokyo Girls’ Style were the guests of honor of J-Pop Summit Festival in San Francisco, USA, in July 2014.

They had a collaboration with Kirimi-chan in August 2014. The girls dressed up costumes (salmon fillet, fish paste…) inspired by the Sanrio character.

Arai Hitomi appeared on the MV for Come on Honey! by tofubeats in August 2014. She sung on the track and she played the role of a karaoke singer on the music video.

Tokyo Girls' Style (東京女子流)Tokyo Girls’ Style held a live performance in Vietnam in September 2014 and will go to Thailand in October 2014.

Konishi Ayano gave her first solo live Konishi no Ongaku-sai (小西の音楽祭) in October 2014 at Akihabara Cultures Theater.

The single Say Long Goodbye includes the English version of their hit song Himawari to Hoshikuzu.

Tokyo Girls' Style (東京女子流)Yamabe Miyu wrote the lyrics of the song Stay with Me which is going to be released in March 2015.

Tokyo Girls’ Style’s 1st best album Kirari (キラリ☆) will be on sale on the same day.
